Bhopal witnessed a celebration of fitness and community spirit as the MP Half Marathon Mahotsav 2026 was held successfully on March 15, 2026. The event has brought runners of all ages to New Market, Dussehra Ground. The event venue was filled with a vibrant atmosphere, enthusiasm, and a shared love for running. The event was organised by Sports Utsav as a platform for athletes, fitness enthusiasts and families. The MP Half Marathon was a celebration of running culture in the region. All the participants from diverse backgrounds have gathered for a challenge and excitement for the large-scale running event. Whether first-time runners taking their first step or seasoned runners aiming to test their stamina, the event created an inclusive environment where everyone could be part of the fitness movement.
Multiple Race Categories for All Runners
The marathon has several race categories for all different age groups and fitness levels.
- 21 KM Half Marathon attracted dedicated runners ready to take on a challenging distance, while the 10 KM Run provided a strong competitive platform for runners seeking a balanced endurance test.
- 5 KM Run welcomed fitness enthusiasts and recreational runners who wanted to enjoy a shorter yet energetic race. For younger participants.
- 3 KM Kids Run provided an exciting opportunity to experience the thrill of running events.
All race categories were flagged off at 8:00 AM, with participants reporting at 7:30 AM, ensuring a lively start to the day as runners gathered with enthusiasm and determination.
The event was graced by the Vishwas Kailash Sarang, Sports Minister Dipankar Banerjee, Director of Special Olympics Bharat (Madhya Pradesh) Alok Mishra, Head of the Sports Department at Barkatullah University and Dr Aditya Agrawal, Director of Sagar Multispeciality Hospital, whose presence added significance and encouragement to the occasion.
Recognizing Outstanding Performances
The event awarded top performers in the 5 KM, 10 KM, and 21 KM races, who received attractive cash prizes of ₹10,000 for first place, ₹5,000 for second place, and ₹3,000 for third place. In the 3 KM Kids Run, champions were recognised with prizes of ₹3,000, ₹2,000, and ₹1,000 for encouraging children to actively participate in sports and fitness activities from an early age.
The successful organisation of the marathon was made possible with the support of several partners. The event was conducted in association with Special Olympics Bharat – Madhya Pradesh chapter and received support from FIT 5 Sports Club, contributing to the event’s overall success and community engagement. The marathon maintained smooth operations with professional event management support. Timing Technologies provided accurate timing services, ensuring reliable race results for all timed categories.
