Surgery in Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a disease of the eye where progressive rise in eye pressure leads to loss of vision. It is often called the ‘silent theft of vision’ as it does not present with any symptoms during the early stages of the disease. Micro Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), is the latest advancement in the surgical management of glaucoma to reduce the burden of the disease. Patients with glaucoma are often weighed down by multiple drops at specific intervals. Traditionally only patients with uncontrolled eye pressure glaucoma have been advised for glaucoma surgeries. With the iStent technology in the arsenal, patients with mild to moderate glaucoma may be treated with a fifteen minute procedure to allow them to become medication free.
